Community Impact
As a retired President of RidgeRock Retaining Walls Inc., Jim continues to impact his community through various volunteer roles. He is passionate about helping underserved populations achieve their God-given potential through work and career development. Jim is an active member of New City Church, where he leads a high school youth ministry small group. He serves on the board and volunteers at the Harvest Center of Charlotte and is the President of the Epilepsy Alliance of North Carolina. Additionally, Jim is a relationship coordinator and co-founder of Christian Empowerment Microfinance, a micro-lending organization based in Mongu, Zambia, and volunteers with Peer Servants, a micro-lending ministry based in Boston, MA.
Personal Background
Jim has been married to his wife Tricia for 40 years. They have one daughter and six beautiful and handsome grandchildren. Jim has lived in Charlotte since 1979, with a five-year assignment in Dallas, TX, from 1985 to 1991. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee (1977) and an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill (1979). His hometown is Cleveland, Tennessee, a town of about 30,000 located 30 miles north of Chattanooga. Jim loves Charlotte for its diversity, pro-entrepreneurial spirit, and the desire to see others grow. He enjoys the F3 fitness program, golf, travel, landscaping, and is a huge University of Tennessee football fan, attending games as a season ticket holder. He also enjoys watching Tar Heel basketball and the Panthers when they are performing well. Jim is a Christ follower who views everything through Kingdom eyes and aims to advance the Kingdom here on earth through all his endeavors.
