John, with nearly 40 years of executive experience at CLA, is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs in business and life, helping them navigate obstacles and improve their communities. Since retiring in December 2022, he has focused on travel, activities, projects, and ministry. He and his wife Denise have a personal mission of "helping people on their way," assisting individuals who need help to reach their goals. John is actively involved with Elevation Church, serving on the Expansion and Finance Team, leading an eGroup, teaching a new believers’ group, and coordinating network development. He serves on several non-profit boards, including DIME, Riley’s Catch, Bringing Miracles, Friends of Kijabe, and operates The Lighthouse on Summit for affordable housing for ministry professionals.
Personal Background
John and his wife Denise are celebrating their 40th year of marriage in 2024. They have four adult children: three sons (35, 33, and 30) who are all married, and one daughter (28) who will be married next April. They also have a grandson named Brock. John moved to Charlotte in 1998 from Minnesota. He attended Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and grew up in Lewiston, Minnesota, working on a dairy farm and in his father's insurance, real estate, and appraisal business. John loves Charlotte for its diversity, ingenuity, and growing influence, and finds it a wonderful place to raise a family. He enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, biking, walking, and boating. John is a sentimental person with a collection of meaningful items that signify moments when he felt God's presence.
